HOW TO CARE YOUR DIFFERENT CLOTHING

HOW TO CARE YOUR DIFFERENT CLOTHING

Taking good care of a piece of clothing can significantly extend its lifespan, and even more so with our organic materials. That's why we're sharing some top tips for taking care of your clothes to keep them looking great for as long as possible!

Knowing how to wash different types of clothing material helps maintain their color, shape, and appearance. This is important, as washing some types of fabrics the wrong way can ruin them — you don’t want to spend the money on an expensive dress only to damage it the first time it needs cleaning.

As different types of clothes have very different cleaning requirements, let’s take a closer look at how to care for specific fabrics. Proper care means more than knowing how to wash clothing: You need to know how to dry and store clothing as well. Before discussing fabrics, however, it’s helpful to answer two common questions people have about clothes washing: Does cold water shrink clothes, and should you wash colors in hot or cold water?

Does Cold Water Shrink Clothes?

If you’re worried about shrinkage, cold water is less likely to shrink clothes than warm or hot water, and delicate fabrics are best washed in cold water. Such as silk, lyocell and triacetate.

Should You Wash Colors in Hot or Cold Water?

Cold water is the better choice for dark or bright colors.

No matter what kind of fabric products, in order to maintain the luster and texture, you need to pay attention to it when you care:

【Maintainance】
1. Try to avoid contact with sharp, sharp and rough hard objects as much as possible.
 2. The wearing time should not be too long. It is recommended to change it every 3-5 days to effectively restore the elasticity of the fiber and prolong the life of the clothes.

【Storage】
1. Wash and dry before collection to prevent dirt and microorganisms from destroying organic fibers.
2. Store all clothes in a cool, dry place to protect them from humidity, sunlight and heat.
3. When hanging clothes, please use wooden or padded hangers to further protect the clothes from deformation.
4. Don't overfill the closet, the clothes are easy to rub against each other.

HAND WASHING
We recommend always hand washing your LUVHOME's silk in cool water - this will preserve the life of the garment and the saturation of its color.

We're not suggesting you stop washing your silk pieces altogether, but you probably don't need to wash them as much as you think you do. Try spot cleaning them where needed and then airing them - silk is a beautifully breathable, natural fibre and so managing your pieces in this way will prolong the time you can go between washes. Of course, it's also much better for the planet!

We recommend using a specialist silk detergent.

MACHINE WASH
In reality, we know from experience these items can sometimes end up in the machine. We don't recommend you wash your silk product this way, but if you trust your washing machine and usually wash your delicates in it, these are our tips.

It is very important that you use a specialist silk detergent.

Non-specialist detergents often contain harsh chemicals that can damage the colour and finish of silk and cashmere garments.

Please choose a gentle 'hand wash' cycle and set the temperature to cold if there is no staining, up to 20℃ if there are light stains and 30℃ if there are any stubborn marks. Never wash delicate fabrics over 30℃. The cooler the water the longer the silk will last and the better it will feel coming out of the machine. Avoid using any stain removers.

AIR DRYING & IRONING
Hang your silks to air dry and never put any of your silk product in the tumble dryer.

Iron or steam your silk product to restore lustre and sheen to the silk. Use your iron's delicate or lowest heat setting.

Iron on the reverse side of your garment. If you need to iron directly on the front, place a cotton cloth over the area to protect the silk.
